English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a school-level committee comprised of parents, staff, and community members. The purpose of ELAC is to provide the parents of English Learner students with an opportunity to participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of core and support programs for students who are learning English. ELAC members advise the school on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), the school’s needs assessment, the Language Census Report (R30-LC), and efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance. Each school’s ELAC Committee also has the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), which advises the school district Board of Trustees on matters affecting English Learner students.
Comité Asesor para los Estudiantes de Inglés (ELAC por sus siglas en inglés)
El Comité Asesor para los Estudiantes de Inglés (ELAC) es un comité a nivel escolar compuesto por padres, personal escolar y miembros de la comunidad. El propósito de ELAC es proporcionar a los padres de los estudiantes de inglés la oportunidad de participar en el desarrollo, implementación y evaluación de programas académicos y de apoyo para los estudiantes que están aprendiendo inglés. Miembros de ELAC asesoran a la escuela en el desarrollo del Plan Escolar para el Aprovechamiento Académico de los Estudiantes (SPSA por sus siglas en inglés), en las evaluación de las necesidades de la escuela, el Informe del Censo del Lenguaje (R30-LC) y los esfuerzos para hacer que los padres sean conscientes de la importancia que tiene la asistencia regular a la escuela. El Comité ELAC de cada escuela también tiene la oportunidad de elegir por lo menos a un miembro del Comité Asesor del Distrito Escolar para los Estudiantes de Inglés (DELAC por sus siglas en inglés), que asesora a la Junta Directiva del Distrito Escolar sobre asuntos relacionados a los Estudiantes que están Aprendiendo Inglés.
