Dear Blackhawk Families,
It is my pleasure to welcome you as the newest members of our Blackhawk family for the 2023-24 school year.
Junior High is an exciting time in a student's child’s education where we continue to build on the foundation that sets the stage for success in high school, college, and life. We have an exciting year planned for our students with many opportunities for our parents to be involved in our school community. Your student is coming to an amazing junior high school that offers unlimited opportunities to be their UNLIMITED YOU!
We encourage all of our students to take full advantage of the many programs we offer. Being actively involved helps students feel connected to our school and gives students an opportunity to find out what they are most passionate about. Ball Junior High has excellent elective programs with pathways in career technical education, beginning and advanced visual and performing arts courses, award winning band, choir, art, and theatre programs, and AVID, a college preparatory course. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our after-school sports program (football, tennis, volleyball, soccer, basketball, cross country, softball, and track and field), participate in performances, go on educational field trips, and attend school dances. Ball Junior High School is proud to be a part of the AUHSD's Drone Technology Exploration Pathway. In Exploring Drone Technology, students learn about the physics of flight, non-powered vehicles, self-propelled vehicles, and build a drone out of found materials. In Exploring Drone Tech Advanced, students learn the fundamentals of first person view, safety regulations, drone operations, and fly drones in obstacle course competitions. Students who take these exploratory courses are well prepared to take Drone Operations 1 and 2 at Loara High School, take Dual Enrollment courses, and enter college and/or the workforce with cutting edge technical skills in an emerging industry. In the last few years, drone technology has advanced exponentially. Ball Junior High's Drone Technology Exploration students will be Future Ready through the combination of these emerging technical skills, the development of the 5Cs, and student voice.
